Bagels & Cream Cheese
Broadway Bagels makes delicious vegan bagels. We carry a variety of flavors. Recently they've included plain, cinnamon-raisin, sesame seed, and everything.
We have two spreads: Plain Cream Cheese (tofutti of course) and Sun-dried tomato with Rosemary and Sea Salt.
***For those who are wondering: the sun-dried tomatoes are sulfite-free. Holla.

Thanks For A Great First Month!!
Hello everybody near and far! We have had a great first four weeks and are inspired and humbled by the great support and feedback we have already received from all of you. After a very long spring and summer readying the space it feels so good to finally be open and being able to provide the community a little taste of what we have been up to! It's clear that it was well worth the wait however as the place is buzzing with excitement and enthusiasm and it couldn't feel more like home.
Now that we have our first month under our belt we are moving more steadily into the earthy grounding of Autumn and figuring out how to even better nourish each other throughout the darkening days ahead. Garrett and Nina have been having a great time collaborating in the bakery and have come up with some really satisfying treats both sweet or savory. We have heard the need for some quick lunch options and we have already begun to make our foray into that realm...my favorite has been the "Savory Cashew Tart" that Nina has been working out to perfection. It tastes just like quiche without all the unnecessary "egginess" and really hits the spot either hot or cold. We have also been known to feature a steady supply of hearty calzones and so far Italian Veggie with Teese Mozzarella and Indian Potato Curry have both been well received.
Today we opened with a couple of exciting options: Strawberry Whoopie Pies and Chocolate Filled Croissants!! That's right folks vegan croissants! I myself was delightfully shocked at just how perfectly flaky these were and wouldn't have known it from its non-vegan counterpart unless told. Also new in house as of today, we are carrying Broadway bagels (plain, sesame and everything) and will have a few different Tofutti Vegan Cream Cheese spreads to choose from. You can also pick up a Columbia Gorge Organic Juice or a Coconut Water to round out your meal and get you off on the right foot for your day.
So that's where we are at the start of week five and we feel good about what's to come. There is already a plan to expand our hours a bit later into the evening which will be implemented as of November 1st so stay tuned for that update. Once again we appreciate all the support we have felt throughout the opening of this venture and couldn't possibly be doing it without you all!
Many blessings,
love and light,
John (and Garrett)
and the folks at Back to Eden Bakery Boutique

With the 3rd week wrapping up...
...we're going strong!
This weekend looks to be really busy, and Garrett is baking up a storm. Figuratively.
This week has definitely seen a surge in the sales of our soft serve--especially our Sundaes.
For 5 bucks a pop, it's a pretty good deal.
Your choice of soft serve (vanilla, chocolate, or twist) or Coconut Bliss (vanilla or chocolate), 2 toppings, and sauce.
Some suggestions:
The Rocky Road
Chocolate Vanilla Soft Serve
Peanuts
Marshmallows
Chocolate Sauce
The Hippie

Granola
Coconut Flakes
Caramel Sauce
Chocolate Lovers'

One week under our belt...so far, so good!
We've had such a good time since we opened last Tuesday!
We've been mad busy at times--Last Thursday and on the weekend for sure-- and we've also been pretty mellow at times.
Garrett and Nina have been baking up a storm.
Just some of the delectableness includes:
I know, right? Yum.
And several options a day are gluten-free or soy-free. Of course, our baked goods change every day. Call or come in or follow us on twitter to see what daily specials we have.
We have definitely noticed the need for several things in the week Back to Eden's been open:
1. More gluten-free options. Probably about half our guests who come in have asked about this. We've already expanded the gluten-free menu, and will keep working on it.
2. Extended hours. We've started by being open 9-6 Tuesday-Sunday, but it's clear that these 'banker's hours' aren't the most convenient for everyone. We're thinking of being open from 8-8 and 8-10 Fridays and Saturdays. This isn't quite concrete yet, so stay tuned!
3. I can't remember #3 right now. Oops. I got distracted by making a strawberry-banana smoothie for Pablo who works next door.
Anyway, we are so happy to be (finally) open and love what people have been saying about us.
Check out Get Sconed, Yelp, and Fly on the Wall.
Thanks for the warm welcome, Portland!
