Can you believe Thanksgiving week is upon us? The time to celebrate with family and friends has arrived and we have a lot to be grateful for this year. We appreciate all the support we get from all of you, it truly warms our hearts day in and day out. We will be closed on Thanksgiving and will close early the day before to celebrate with our own families. If you'd like to treat your loved ones to our delicious baked goods this holiday, there are still a couple of days left to place a special order. We Give Thanks For Our Place At Your Table

Hello and Season's Greetings!

Believe it or not it's that time of year again, the leaves have all but fallen, the wet weather has set in and our holiday gatherings are fast approaching.  Last year at this time Back to Eden Bakery Boutique was still in its infancy and now here we are on another turn of the wheel and so grateful for the first year we have had and the many wonderful people we have been blessed to serve and do business with.  When we first began nurturing this seedling, a few years back, it began as our humble offering, something we could bring to our community's table in good conscience.  Here we are now only one full year into this, with roots growing deeper, trunk growing stronger and in spite of the barren branches we see outside Back to Eden remains in full bloom.

As we begin wrapping up 2010 and look to the year ahead, we are beyond excited to explore the many possibilities that have revealed themselves within our first year of being in service to this community.  If you have been in to the store recently you might have noticed that a number of items are beginning appear gluten free such as the beloved Chocolate Nut Toffee Bars, cookies, mini-cakes and cakes-by-the-slice.  As much as we are all about steadfastly vegan and eat organic we are also committed to celebrating the evolving food consciousness, which is increasingly shying away from traditional wheat flours and gluten products.  In our own household we have adapted our diet to be largely GF and frankly we love it. Not just the way we feel physically but how much richer our knowledge and experience of preparing nutritious food has become.  Wherein becoming vegan makes you a dedicated label reader challenging your gluten intake requires a wholly new level of awareness and creativity. 

The bottom line is we of Back to Eden Bakery are having a great time serving the Portland community and responding to your desires and needs and will continue to refine our offerings so that we not only feed you but nourish you as well.  Your participation and feedback is what keeps this garden growing and we will be including you in our thanksgivings this holiday season.  If you want to feature a little bit of Eden at your holiday table we have the following seasonal items to choose from:

Well, I know you have heard us heralding the arrival of Fall and all it's gloriously wet weather but in our humble opinion this just might be one of the most beautiful days Portland has ever seen! The enjoyably temperate breeze combined with the sun shining upon the turning leaves has me feeling that on a day like today there is no better place to be on Earth.  Especially when you can treat yourself to a little Pumpkin Soft Serve while you walk Alberta St. taking in all of the autumn splendor.  There is a great line of baked goods in store today if you want to grab a little treat for yourself or someone you admire and end this gorgeous day in style!
